The Sitter, Inc. is a family-owned childcare center and preschool in Virginia Beach, blending faith-based values with an exceptional educational focus. Since 2004, our mission has been to nurture children through hands-on, literacy-centered learning while supporting families with love and care.

We proudly use the state-approved “Essentials Preschool Curriculum,” focusing on language arts, history, social studies, and mathematics to prepare children for kindergarten. As participants in the City of Virginia Beach Library Early Childhood Literacy Program, our students enjoy visits from the bookmobile and access to literacy-rich environments.

Our founders, George and Phyllis Coleman, bring over 30 years of childcare experience, driven by a passion for caring for the whole family. Phyllis describes their work as a ministry, supporting families to ensure children thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

Led by our dedicated director, Amber Parks, who holds a master’s degree in education, we combine love, care, and a state-approved curriculum to create a strong foundation for your child’s success.
